The Final Chapter
Today I received a "letter of termination" from the General Overseer of the Church of God of Prophecy (COGOP). The letter I received was written in response to my August 7, 2006 resignation. I surrendered my ministerial credentials, mainly due my theological convictions, just a few days shy of my 4th anniversary of being a licensed/ordained minister in the organization.
There had been a great temptation to just to stay "under radar" and teach and preach my theological convictions within the denomination. After council from a good friend and reading Spurgeon's sermons entitled, "Ministers Sailing Under False Colours", I was smitten in my heart that I could not remain in the COGOP and covertly preach contrary to their doctrinal commitments. I realized it just wouldn't be honest for me to do so.
We have recently found a home at the First Baptist Church of Metter, GA. We have been making new friends and we are starting to feel like part of the family! One of the best things to me is that the Bible is faithfully preached! Also, the unity we have witnessed and the love we have experienced at this church is amazing. We are confident that this was God will for our lives. So as one chapter has now finally come to a close, we are excited about where God is going to be taking us next.
Soli Deo Gloria!
