John MacArthur, Israel, and Postmillennialism

An interesting article by Gary DeMar concerning the Postmillennialist view of Israel's future in Prophecy.

(Being a recent convert to Postmillennial eschatology -and a guy who also has a desire to see Jews convert to Christ- I found this article very interesting indeed!)

Dude! I didn't realize you done got converted...shoot, I didn't even hear ya'd been arrested.

But seriously, man, come clean with the details, my brotha. What was the "clincher" for you in terms of biblical evidence; or whose writings seemed to sway you most, etc.?

I do both echo that I want to hear details about your conversion, and lament that same conversion ;)

What Biblical texts persuaded you?

Ohh goodness... Let's see.

Many of the OT Messianic prophecies seem to indicate that our Lord's Kingdom will grow in power and dominion and triumph in the World. (see Isa 2:1-4, Isa 9:6-7, Dan 2:31-35,44, or Dan 7:13-14)

There's lots of other stuff, especially in some of the Lord's parables like Matthew 13:31-33.

I have read lots of articles and books by Postmillers like R.C. Sproul, Keith Mathison, Gary DeMar, and Kenneth Gentry. That being the case, I have a partial preterist view of Matthew 24 and Revelation. (Sorry Gordan)

I wish I could write a iron clad defense for you all, but right now I'm still a newbie to it all myself. I will continue to study so I can better articulate my understanding.

All you Amills can think of it as "optimistic Amillennialism" as John MacArthur said...

I'm preteristic on Matthew 24 as well. You're still in transition, so there's hope your view on Revelation is transitory and can be fixed. :)

Unfortunately DeMar shoots himself in the foot by criticizing MacArthur's sloppy understanding of history, then saying that Robert Haldane was Swiss Reformed. The Haldane Brothers were Scottish Reformed Baptists.
Shame, because the article is pretty good with that exception. And the lack of mention of David Brown, who actually wrote two books that deal directly with the timing of the Second Coming and the Restoration of the Jews. And was principal of the Free Church College, Aberdeen.
